Family CryptoParty
Sunday September 3
2-5pm
Inter/sections hosts a Family Cryptoparty to highlight issues of privacy and security that affect all of us in our connected society. It aims to empower people from all ages and walks of life with the knowledge of how to manage their personal privacy and use encryption in a way that is relevant and useful to them. Featuring a make-your-own-cipher Spy Corner!

Inter/sections Art Exhibition
Sunday September 3 - Friday September 8
10am - 6pm (later for special events)
All week long there is a curated exhibition featuring work by MAT students and invited artists, as well as a special commission of new work by computer artist Will Hurt.

Artists' Workshop and Talks: Will Hurt, Yosuke Ushigome and Anna Ridler
Monday September 4
2-5pm
A hands-on event for artists interested in working with technology, with workshops from artists Will Hurt, Tim Sargent and Soomi Park. Yosuke Ushigome and Anna Ridler will both give artist talks on their respective pieces Professional Sharing and Wikileaks, A Love Story.

Exhibition launch

Join the artists and organisers behind Inter/sections for refreshments to celebrate the launch of our exhibition of artwork on the theme of technology and ethics. Please email [email protected] to be placed on the guestlist.

Inter/sections Symposium
Friday September 8
All day
Inter/sections culminates in a Symposium on Friday. It is a day-long event of talks, conversation, and thought provoking discussion. It features prominent speakers and thinkers from art and technology, academia and industry.

Technology, Ethics and the Arts Now

As part of this year’s Inter/sections Symposium, The Culture Capital Exchange is hosting a free workshop that sets out to unpick some timely and also challenging and complex questions around how the arts are using digital technologies now and the wider political, social, ethical and indeed economic contexts.

Work Ethics in the Age of Automation (Panel discussion)
Friday September 8
5.30-6.30pm
Automation is seen as the most important development in labour since the Industrial Revolution with futurologists predicting seismic shifts in the jobs market, but where does this leave the technology sector? This panel discussion, chaired by Jacqueline de Rojas (president of techUK) and including Dr Ildar Farkhatdinov (human-robot/computer interaction) and Luke Dormehl (technology journalist), will look at the changing nature of the sector, different models of working, and how this impacts on the individual.
